2025 FUTURE CHAMPIONS BIKE PROGRAM
We are excited to announce the return of the Future Champions road bike program, along with an exciting new addition.
Future Champions Road Bike Program – Summer 2025
For families new to Kronos, here’s a quick rundown of the program:
We recognize that road bikes are the single greatest expense that you will encounter in the sport, and with young athletes growing so quickly it is generally cost prohibitive to purchase a bike only to have it outgrown after as little as a single race season.
Therefore, for a nominal fee of $250 per athlete, Kronos will provide a race-ready road bike to athletes for the summer, supporting them in their training and racing goals.
The $250 fee includes:
Use of a road bike from May–August
A set of tubes, CO2 cartridges, degreaser, chain lubricant, and other small maintenance items
Professional maintenance by Bow Cycle before the start of the outdoor season, ensuring bikes are received in excellent condition!
One of the requirements for participation in the Future Champions program is attending the:
Mandatory Bike Maintenance & Cycling Testing Day
📅 Saturday, May 3, 2025
🕙 1:00-5:00 PM
📍 Okotoks Recreation Centre outdoor track (99 Okotoks Dr, Okotoks, AB T1S 1K1)
Athlete and parent attendance at this session is mandatory as participants will receive a rundown of the expectations and responsibilities for while the bike is in their care.
At this session:
Athletes will be fitted for their bikes by a Kronos coach.
Participants will learn basic bike maintenance and understand expectations while the bike is in their care. Families are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of these valuable club assets throughout the program to ensure they last for years to come.
Kronos coaches will conduct cycling tests at the paved track to divide the squads into different cycling groups based on bike handling skills and riding fitness. This will enhance the safety and effectiveness of club cycling sessions.
!!VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!: In preparation for the Bike Maintenance and Cycling Testing Day, we will require 4 volunteers to meet us at the club storage unit on the morning of May 3 to help load bikes and transport them to the track in Okotoks. Keep an eye out in your inbox for the opportunity to register to earn points toward this season's volunteer requirement total, and thank you in advance for your help!
NEW: Future Champions Winter Program
We’re excited to expand the Future Champions program into the winter season! The club strongly believes that providing athletes with the opportunity to train indoors on a road bike through the winter will lead to improved performance and an easier transition back outdoors in the spring.
Cost: $100 per athlete
Includes:
Use of a road bike from October–March
A bike trainer that can easily be set up and used at home
The bikes will be collected in September following this summer's club race calendar, sent to Bow Cycle for a round of maintenance, and then returned to the athlete.
