FUNDRAISING & VOLUNTEERING POLICY

Kronos is a not-for-profit organization that heavily relies on support from parent and athlete volunteers for its continued success. The club hosts a full slate of competitive events throughout the year that would not be possible without the combined efforts of athletes and their families.

Fundraising

Kronos requires all member athletes and/or families registered in full-year and/or partial programs to actively participate in fundraising events throughout the year. Kronos relies on fundraising to keep program costs low and program quality high. An annual opt-out payment is available for athletes and/or families who choose to not participate in fundraising.

Volunteering - Calgary Kids of Steel

Kronos requires all member athletes and/or families registered in full-year and/or partial programs to volunteer at the Calgary Kids of Steel (CKOS) event, typically held in June. CKOS is owned and operated by Kronos and is the largest youth triathlon event in the province. One volunteer is required per registered athlete, i.e. if a family has 3 athletes registered then 3 volunteer positions are required to be filled. Refer to the athlete and/or program guide for more information. Join us as a Race Director, planners and course mapping, race package assembly and distribution, body marking, transition captains, timing and lap counters, course officials, health and safety, and event setup/takedown. Don’t worry if you have no experience with any of these roles —we will show and teach you everything you need to know!

Volunteering - Casinos

Kronos requires all member athletes and/or families registered in full-year and/or partial programs to volunteer at Casinos that have been awarded to Kronos by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. Casino events are typically awarded to Kronos every 18-24 months. One volunteer is required per family. Special circumstances may exist that prevent an athlete or family from volunteering at these types of events; excusal from these types of events is available by contacting the Kronos Treasurer (treasurer@trikronos.com).

Volunteering - Club Events

Kronos requires all member athletes and/or families registered in full-year and/or partial programs to volunteer at Kronos events throughout the year. Kronos relies on athletes and/or family members, especially those of the Development, Junior, and Elite programs, to fill critical volunteer positions. Volunteer requirements vary by program and are outlined in the Athlete and/or Program Guide.

Volunteer Deposit

The club requires all member athletes and/or families to provide a volunteer bond to ensure fundraising commitments have been satisfied and critical volunteering commitments are met. A $300 bond will be charged to your credit card as part of the registration process.  The $300 bond will be returned at the end of the year if the volunteer commitments have been fulfilled. This bond replaces the previous option to opt-out of volunteering.

Parents agree to the following:

  • Actively participate in fundraising throughout the season, or purchase the opt-out option;

  • Provide volunteer(s), as required, for the CKOS event;

  • Provide volunteer(s), as required, for Casino events;

  • Satisfy the volunteer requirements for programs which I am registering for or have athletes registered in.
